Lamination:  A common problem in tablet manufacturing.

Sometimes we also see it after aqueous film coating. And this defect may take different forms. Notice the first example. Notice in example two below that we have actually two different types of lamination.

We have both vertical and diagonal lamination.

Both have been caused by exposure of the tablet to high levels of moisture during extended storage time before coating.

This is horizontal lamination where the active ingredient expanded due to the hot air used in the coating process.
